ALRAQABA . ISSUE 20 57 A State Audit Bureau delegation participated in the fifth meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals and Key Sustainable Development Indicators (WGSDG KSDI), from 20 to 22 April 2024 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. SAB participated as the head of the WGSDG KSDI, and its representatives were Abdullah Al-Sheitan -Chief Auditor, Defense, Security, and Public Affairs Audit Department, and Talal Al-Wuhaib- Principal Auditor, Performance Audit Department. The meeting aimed to exchange experiences among the participating countries in SDGs and their measurement indicators audit and present the audit institutions’ experience in auditing said goals. It also discussed international organizations’ initiatives and completed projects of operational guides and guidance. SAB delegation, in its capacity as Chairman of the ASOSAI Working Group on SDGs, gave a visual presentation on the Group’s initiatives and shared SAB’s experience in auditing SDGs. The member institutions also presented their experiences in auditing SDGs. In addition, the meeting included the initiatives undertaken by regional organizations, the Group’s achievements, and its future work plan. Meeting recommendations: 1. Audit institutions should continue their efforts in auditing SDGs and follow up their implementation even after the agenda ends in 2030. 2. Intensify audits on environmental, social, and governance aspects, which are the latest audit areas in performance control. It is worth mentioning that the WGSDG aims to exchange knowledge between SAIs. It contributed to developing working papers on the SDGs audit for members of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). INTOSAI has also launched many initiatives to support SAIs in their contributions to achieving the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.
